I think I owe it to some friends to do this.

ADAM AND I ARE ENGAGED!

I informed some friends because I was way too excited. I intended to start another blog so that I can have an account of what we are doing and friends can read about our preparation but since this piece of news is already out (in another blog), the new blog has to wait (I have been very busy)

More details about the proposal, the ring, the wedding and all when I start the new blog, which will only happen once I am back from England. My flight leaves this evening and I have not started on packing.

You know those months where you just get bill after bill on things that you didn’t plan on spending on? It’s those accidental expenditure which will dent your pocket or might dig into your savings.

Yup! It’s one of those months for me! (erm… I mean Adam)

For a start, the Jeep’s a/c died on me and the mechanic said the evaporator coil needs changing and another belt is worn out and needs to be replaced and the heating does not work properly too. Got all that fixed for $1480 (40% from that total goes to labour charges - blood suckers!)

Then my phone bill doubled this month to $85. With the plan I signed up for, I get 600 minutes for $39.99 a month. In the month of Feb I used an additional 300 minutes (please don’t ask me how) and I was charged $0.35 per extra minute used! Money hungry service provider!

Last week we received a note from the management office telling us we owed them $258.00 for electricity bill, $50 of which is a reconnection fee which we disgree on paying. And $208 for a month’s electricity, don’t you think that’s crazy? I don’t remember using that much but then again it was winter and the heating was turned on.

I feel bad for Adam for having to spend those money. I told him I will NOT buy shoes for the next month. Good thing I bought a pair before all these bills came! He he he…

I am learning my ABCs (ah, beh, seh) and 123s (uno, dos, tres) all over again but in Spanish!

I have been to 2 classes and I am totally enjoying it! There’s so much to learn and learning how to pronounce my ABCs in Spanish can be hard work.

H = ache (pronounced a-che)
j = jota (pronounce kho-ta)
Y = i griega (damn long word for Y right?)

But ABCs are not as difficult as 123s.

10 = diez (dthe-es)
22 = veinte y dos (vain-tay e dos)
59 = cincuenta y nueve (cin-ku-en-ta e nu-e-ve)
1000 = mil (meel)

See! Damn confusing.

My teacher, Blanca, is Mexican and she’s totally lovely. She teaches us how to learn Spanish the fun way and next month (when hopefully we understand abit more Spanish) we will go shopping at a Mexican supermarket and then have lunch at a Mexican restaurant and we have to speak Spanish the entire time! Would be fun when we get all our words wrong, I am sure.

Last week Blanca tested us on our spelling in Spanish and this Friday we will be tested on numbers. I am abit worried since I am not too good at it. I better study my numero now!
